Requirements

Key Responsibilities

API Gateway Design & Development

• Design, configure and manage APIs using the Kong API Gateway platform.
  
• Develop and implement API Gateway solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  

Kong API Gateway Administration

• Configure and manage:Services, Routes, Upstreams, Consumers
  
• Implement API lifecycle management practices.
  
• Configure and maintain gateway environments across DEV, ST, SIT, UAT and Production environments.
  
• Configure secure API communication channels.
  
• Manage certificates, trust relationships and gateway security controls.
  
• Ensure compliance with security standards and API governance requirements.
  

API Security & Access Management

• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms including: OAuth 2.0, Mutual TLS (mTLS), JWT-based security, API Key Management
  

Required Skills & Experience

API Gateway Expertise

Strong hands-on experience with:

• Kong API Gateway (Enterprise or OSS)
  
• API Gateway administration and configuration
  
• API lifecycle management
  
• API governance frameworks
  
• Enterprise API management practices
  

API Design & Development

Strong understanding of:

• RESTful APIs
  
• API Management Principles
  
• API Design Standards
  
• OpenAPI / Swagger Specifications
  

• Experience delivering API Gateway solutions in highly regulated environments.
  
• Experience integrating API gateways with middleware, messaging and enterprise integration platforms.
  
• Exposure to WebMethods, RabbitMQ, Caching platforms and broader SOI architectures.
  
• Experience within Energy, Utilities, Government or Critical Infrastructure environments.
  
• Experience working across segregated High Trust and Low Trust network environments.
