Melbourne CBD | Appointment Setter / Business Development Consultant | Full-time | 6-month contract
Build relationships. Create opportunities. Help grow a business that makes a difference.
Tradewind Australia is looking for an experienced Business Development Consultant to join our Melbourne team on an initial six-month contract.
This role is focused on starting meaningful conversations with prospective and existing clients across our Social Services divisions, identifying opportunities and connecting organisations with the right Tradewind consultant.
If you enjoy speaking with people, are confident picking up the phone, can build rapport quickly and know how to turn an initial conversation into a genuine business opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.
About the role
You’ll work closely with our recruitment teams to help identify and develop new client opportunities, while also reconnecting with organisations already familiar with Tradewind.
Your focus will be on creating quality conversations and booking meetings for our consultants, rather than managing the full recruitment process yourself.
Day to day, you will:
What we’re looking for
You may come from appointment setting, business development, outbound sales, recruitment, account management or another phone-based role.
More importantly, you’ll be someone who is comfortable starting conversations and building relationships with people you haven’t spoken with before.
You’ll ideally bring:
You don’t need to be the loudest salesperson in the room. We’re looking for someone who can build rapport, represent Tradewind professionally and create genuine opportunities through consistent, thoughtful activity.
Why Tradewind?
Tradewind Australia is a specialist recruitment agency working across Education and Social Services.
The organisations we work with provide essential services to communities, and we take the responsibility of connecting them with great people seriously.
We are a people-focused, values-led business with a supportive culture and a strong emphasis on relationships, development and giving our employees the flexibility to do their best work.
When you join Tradewind, you can expect:
A little about how we work
Tradewind operates in a hybrid environment, so this role will suit someone who is comfortable managing their own activity and creating momentum independently.
You’ll have support from experienced recruitment leaders and consultants, but you won’t be working from a heavily scripted call centre environment.
We trust our people to take ownership, use their judgement and find the approach that works best.
Success in this role will come from consistency, curiosity, resilience and your ability to have genuine conversations with clients.
